Southern Mail Services in Austin, TX currently has openings for qualified Shop Mechanics.
We want individuals who will treat people with respect and operate in accordance with all state & federal regulations. We are a well-established company in existence over 60 plus years. We have new equipment, 2010-2014 Kenworth / Freightliner Cascadia's w/Det engines, and a fully staffed maintenance facility in addition to support personnel, 60 power units running local and regional routes transporting U.S. Mail between Austin-throughout Texas.

✔ Age 23 years or older
✔ Detailed employment history last 10-years.

✔ Class "C" CDL with a minimum 2-year experience
✔ Upon results approval pass a company driving test
✔ Clean Motor Vehicle Record (1-moving violation allowed)
✔ Clear Criminal History (last 5 years)
✔ Pass a DOT Physical & Drug Test
✔ Familiarity with Cummins, Detroit and Volvo engines
✔ Familiar with electrical systems and multiplex wiring
✔ A/C and airbrake experience
✔ Tire changing
✔ PM and FHWA experience and/or certification
✔ Engine in frame experience
✔ Transmission and clutch replacement
✔ ABS experience
✔ Must have own tools
✔ Must have valid driver's license
✔ Spanish is a plus.
