Purpose of Role

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the clerical support of the Shipping department. This position verifies and keep records on inventory, inbound and outbound shipments. They will also confer and communicate with Team Leaders, Customer Service and New York operations to rectify problems in the Shipping area.


The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in support to…

- Monitor open wave report on a daily basis to ensure that orders are processed within 24 hours of wave and shipped according to schedule
- Monitor remaining retail report throughout the day to ensure orders are delivered to shipping timely to be loaded on correct trailers by their specified cut time.
- Provide necessary paperwork to accounts traffic department to assign authorized carrier via fax and/or Internet
- Coordinate pick-up of shipments with carriers. Communicate with carriers for updated ETAs and/or follow up.
- Inform Account Representative of potential shipping problems or delays
- Log, research and resolve freight and handling chargebacks
- Analyze findings to understand operational gaps and partner with Team Leader and Warehouse/Customer Service teams to take action.
- Review routing guides regularly and have an understanding of International account requirements to support accuracy of shipments
- Compiles and updates shipping reports
- Complete other duties as assigned


The accomplished individual will possess…

- High school diploma
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, decision making, problem solving and follow-up skills
- Internet skills
- Intermediate Word and Excel skills and communication skills
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a clerical, customer service or related warehousing functions
- Ability to work flexible schedule


An outstanding professional will have…

- Some college experience preferred
- More than 2 years experience in a clerical, customer service or related warehousing functions
- Negotiating skills
- Knowledge of Access
- Transportation and/or shipping experience
