Provides comprehensive ambulatory medical care to patients and families; delivers medical services to adults and children with a wide variety of illnesses that can occur in any of the body systems. Serves as primary care provider for patients; providing them with wellness and disease prevention goals and management of mental health problems and substance abuse.

Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides and manages long term, comprehensive ambulatory medical services within the scope of Family Medicine for the purpose of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Conducts complete physical examinations.
• Examines patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders to determine nature and extent of injury or disorder.
•Analyzes records, reports, test results or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
• Prescribes or administers medication and/or therapy as indicated by diagnosis.
• Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients and/or guarantors.
• Monitors patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluates treatments as necessary.
• Advises patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene and disease prevention.
• Immunizes patients to protect them from preventable diseases.
• Advises surgeon of a patient’s risk status and recommends appropriate intervention to minimize risk.
• Assists clinic administration in developing and implementing programs relevant to providing health care for Native Americans served by the clinic.
• Participates in appropriate in-service education programs for health professionals at the community health center.
• Observes and assists staff members at work to ensure safe and ethical practices and to solve problems and demonstrate techniques.
• Provides continuity of care by directing patients to other facilities when his/her needs exceed the scope of services available at this facility.
• Maintains licensure and appropriate certifications.
• Determines nature and extent of injury or disorder, referring to diagnostic images and laboratory tests.
• Prescribes medication and recommends dietary and activity program, as indicated by diagnosis.
• Refers patient to medical specialist when indicated.
• Assists clinic administration in developing and implementing programs relevant to providing health care for Native Americans served by the clinic.
• Participates in appropriate in-service education programs for health professionals at the clinic.
• Participates in Clinic Quality Improvement program to improve patient care.
• Maintains licensure and appropriate certifications.

Availability:
An individual must have the following job availability to perform one or more essential functions of this position.

Location: 2192 Rosita Valley Rd. Eagle Pass, TX 78852.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Flexibility: The employee may need to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or extended hours if required.
• Traveling may be necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited medical school or university with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Documentation of completion of residency in Family Practice from an accredited residency program.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Kickapoo culture and/or language preferred but not required.
• Native American preference is observed.
