We are currently looking for a full-time Medical Director for the Physician Assistant Program. The Medical Director supports the program director in ensuring that both the didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care in accordance with the ARC-PA Standards and Sullivan University policies. The Medical Director position is estimated to be a .2FTE.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Assists the Program Director/Chair with program design and development.
Recruits, develops and retains qualified instructors to deliver didactic portion of curriculum.
Actively recruits quality clinical sites and competent instructors for supervised clinical practice experiences.
Instruction of content/courses appropriate to expertise or experience, fulfilling the functions outlined in the faculty member job description.
Participates in the initial and ongoing accreditation process.
Participates in the formative and summative program evaluation.
Reviews/evaluates student progress and performance at regular intervals; serves as a role model and mentor for students.
Provides feedback to didactic instructional faculty.
Work with Clinical Phase principal faculty to ensure didactic students are well prepared to transition to clinical phase of the program.
Participates in student recruitment and selection.
Assists in policy development and adherence.
Actively collaborates with program faculty for continuous quality improvement.
Seek and secure opportunities for grants, collaborative projects and interprofessional activities.
Serves as a member of the curriculum, admissions, and PA program advisory committees; serves on other University and Program committees as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:
Physician (MD or DO) with an active Kentucky and/or Indiana medical license or eligible for Kentucky and/or Indiana Licensure.
Three years related experience.
An equivalent combination of education or work experience may be considered.
ABMS or AOA approved specialty board certification.
Academic or Medical Education training and/or experience
Research, Program/curriculum development or evaluation experience desirable.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.
