Parsec, and international intermodal company, has an opening for a heavy-duty maintenance repair mechanic in Atlanta, Georgia. Parsec operates in over 30 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Our operations are responsible for handling approximately 45% of the nation's’ TOFC / COFC traffic each year.
Parsec offers comprehensive benefits including 401K, paid time off, and apprenticeship opportunities. We are looking for both Journeyman and Junior Mechanic level Heavy-Duty Maintenance Repair Mechanics.
Education requirementsMinimum High School Degree or GED
Preferred skilled training programs and certifications are a plus such as ASE Certified Technician, Advanced Welding Certification or endorsements through an accredited program.

There will be a skills test to assess capability and experience level
Experience requirementsVarious levels of maintenance experience will be considered. To qualify as a Journeyman level, a minimum 5 years of experience and qualifying skill test. To qualify as Junior level a minimum 3 years and skill test, and an apprenticeship is available to those entering the trade.
QualificationsMust have capability to maintain and repair various types of equipment including Overhead cranes, Side loader cranes, Forklifts and Spotting Tractors.
Must have a previous working knowledge of: hydraulic systems, electronic controls, electrical circuitry, schematics and a basic knowledge of diesel engine repair.
Some welding may be required.
Mi-Jack, and/or Taylor, Manufacture Brand experience will be considered a plus.
Must have own tools.
ResponsibilitiesThe Heavy Duty Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Technician will be responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance schedules.
Repair work with reduced volume of rework.
Troubleshooting mechanical problems with a wide range of industrial machinery.
Ensure and embrace a safety first work culture.
SkillsMechanics are able to inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair cranes and other heavy equipment on the rail yard. Senior Mechanic has strong electrical, hydraulic, fuel and mechanical skills, and can read and interpret specifications, schematics and manuals.
Senior Mechanics are able to operate on all machinery at the yard. Senior Mechanics are able to run a shift without supervision and have an understanding of and ability to perform tasks given. Mechanic at this level is trains Apprentice and Junior Mechanics.
Junior Mechanics are able to diagnose and troubleshoot with guidance. Junior Mechanics are capable of performing P/M services with minimum supervision. Junior Mechanics are able to operate most machinery at the yard. A Junior Mechanic at this level needs some supervision and has an understanding of and ability to perform most tasks given. Mechanic at this level helps to train Apprentice Mechanics on basic tasks.
Work hoursVarious Schedules Available
