The Health Information Assistant Director/Coder has accountability for all patients' records to be coded, handling billing related issues and maintaining the departmental daily functions and responding to all employees and departmental problems in the absence of the director.
Must have a good working knowledge of Federal (CMS), Compdata, State Regulations, The Joint Commission, HIPAA, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, billing and AHIMA guidelines and standards
Education requirementsAssociate degree with RHIT credentials
Experience requirements3 years supervisory and leadership and hospital experience
5 years Coding and Billing experience to include all patient types and payment aspects
QualificationsKnowledge of ICD-9 ICD-10, CPT-4, coding guidelines and rules
4-yrs Assistant RHIT Working Director position
Train the trainer coding certification
Working knowledge of Paragon/McKesson computer
Working knowledge of (EHR) Paragon HPF/MPF-One Content
Fast paced multitasking individual
Experience all patient type coding/payors billing aspects
Knowledge of Patient's portals
ResponsibilitiesAdheres to all Federal (CMS), State regulations and coding guidelines.
Processes all patient visits to assure that all visit id are coded properly
In-patient coding and making sure the , correct DRG assignment is met
Assist with overseeing and training HIM coding staff
Attends Revenue Cycle Meetings
Maintains the CompData data report for ensuring all errors are correct
Maintain all departmental monthly and state reporting.
Maintains and initiates employee counseling if necessary
Supervisors and provide guidance to all Health Information employees in the absence of the director
Working independently with the Ancillary hospital services.
Assists the Administrative Council in the absence of the director.
