DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and direct disaster response or crisis management activities, provide disaster preparedness training, and prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural (e.g., hurricanes, floods, earthquakes), wartime, or technological (e.g., nuclear power plant emergencies or hazardous materials spills) disasters or hostage situations.

Coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities, such as ordering evacuations and implementing special needs plans and programs.
Prepare plans that outline operating procedures to be used in response to disasters or emergencies, such as hurricanes, floods and in recovery from these events.
Develop and maintain liaisons with municipalities, county departments, and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination, and exchanges of personnel and equipment.
Design and administer emergency or disaster preparedness training courses that teach people how to effectively respond to major emergencies and disasters.
Keep informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
Propose alteration of emergency response procedures based on regulatory changes, technological changes or knowledge gained from outcomes of previous emergency situations.
Maintain and update all resource materials associated with emergency preparedness plan.
Keep informed of federal, state and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensure the plans adhere to these regulations.
Prepare emergency situation status reports that describe response and recovery efforts, needs and preliminary damage assessments.
Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by Tribal Administrator.

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret basic documents, such as policy and procedure manuals; ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situation.
Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage and maintain security of confidential data and information.
Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person or using telecommunications equipment.
The employee must have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, touch-screen display, telephone and calculator.
The employee must have a normal range of hearing and be able to talk.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works in outside weather conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, smoke, toxic materials, air contaminants, noise, humidity, temperature extremes and working at heights.
The work environment can occasionally be stressful.
Flexibility: The employee may need to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or extended hours if required.
Traveling is necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
Bachelor degree from an accredited University.
3 to 4 years of work related experience, on the job training and/or vocational training.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies and procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state for the protection of the Kickapoo Community.
