Position: Director of Nursing

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Clinical Services plans and monitors the delivery of quality patient care by the RN’s, LPN’s, and Mental Health Techs. Assists in the integration of the Social/Clinical Services function in the patient care, discharge planning and home planning process with other hospital departments, external service organizations, agencies and health care facilities. As Director of these staff members, the DOCS supervises the administration of the work schedule and assigns workload to the staff maximizing the strengths and abilities of the staff. The Director of Clinical Services has overall responsibility for managing, coordinating, supervising and implementing treatment programs and the delivery of services in an effective manner for the Adult and Geriatric Programs. The Director of Clinical Services has the authority to make staffing changes as necessary. The Director of Clinical Services serves on various organizational teams and/or committees and as a consultant to other departments. The DOCS monitors and assures the hospitals compliance with applicable standards, regulations and laws.

Supervises: Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Social Services, Nurse Supervisors, Registered/License Practical Nurses, Mental Health Techs, Therapist, Case Managers, Recreation Therapist, and Art Therapist

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing. Masters degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Five (5) years nursing management experience at a director level with three (3) years in behavioral healthcare required. As a senior nurse executive must have thorough working knowledge of health care nursing services with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical managerial situations.

License/Certification:
Current RN licensure in the State of Florida and current CPR certification.

Skills:
Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain effective working relationships, interdepartmentally, intra-departmentally, and with the medical staff. Demonstrates the ability to organize, delegate and be a role model manager to the Nursing Team. Must have ability to communicate in both oral and written form and in a clean and concise manner. Must have excellent leadership, prioritization, communication, analytic and quantitative skills.

Physical Requirements:
Good physical health and mental attitude is essential. Requires the ability to assist in crisis intervention and physical intervention with out of control patients. Position requires the ability to stand or sit for short or long periods of time and to ambulate within and outside the facility. Manual dexterity is required for daily use of standard office equipment. Must be physically capable of lifting waist/table height up to 40lbs for the purpose of moving/carrying files, etc. The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Other:
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or the Medical Director. The director is available seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day.
