A. Position Summary:
The Collision Center Body Technician is responsible for repairing vehicles to industry standards.

B. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of common repair practices on metals, plastics, fiberglass, rubber, aluminum, and chrome
2. One year experience in automotive repair
3. Valid driver’s license and driving record consistent with company policy and insurance carrier requirements
4. ASE or ICAR certification or begin process to obtain within six (6) months of employment

C. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Good communication skills, including an ability to satisfactorily communicate with other Collision Center personnel and customers
2. Good reading and analytical skills, including an ability to read, analyze, and comply with repair orders and specifications
3. Ability to organize repairs and schedule work to comply with schedules of other personnel
4. Ability to safely and effectively operate cutting torches and welding equipment
5. Knowledge of common repair practices on metals, plastics, fiberglass, rubber, aluminum, and chrome
6. Ability to safely and properly use hand and power tools
7. Ability to operate vehicles (automatic and standard transmissions)
8. Ability to transport parts, materials and equipment weighing a minimum of 25 pounds or more with assistance
9. Ability to access, inspect, and repair damaged areas of vehicles
10. Ability to stand six to eight hours per shift

D. Relationship to Other Positions (Organizational Structure):
1. Reports to Collision Center Manager/Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager
2. Interacts on a daily basis with other Collision Center personnel (i.e., Estimator, Frame person, Painter)

E. Essential Job Functions:
1. Analyze repair order and inspect damaged vehicle for own assessment
2. Report discrepancies or new items to Production Manager and Estimator
3. Comply with scheduling of repairs with other applicable personnel
4. Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window-and-seat-operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders
5. Repair panels per industry standards
6. Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills, using wrenches and cutting equipment
7. Bolt and weld replacement parts in position, using wrenches or welding equipment
8. File, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
9. Aim headlights, align body panels
10. Repair or replace defective mechanical parts
11. Review all repairs for quality control
12. Must be punctual in attendance
13. Must be present during normal hours of operation or as directed by management
14. Perform any other duties that are deemed essential to fulfill the functions of the position

F. Additional Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that customer cars are kept clean, keep personal work area neat and clean, and be able to account for all Collision Center tools at all times
2. Must adhere to all company policies and Collision Center rules
3. Must adhere to personal protective equipment rules as needed
4. Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations
5. Assist other Collision Center personnel as needed
6. Attend ongoing training as required
7. Maintain a professional appearance and/or wear Gunn attire
8. Comply with other job-related instructions and perform any other duties that, in the opinion of his/her supervisor, are reasonably related to his/her job responsibilities, required to assist other employees, or compliment Gunn's efforts generally

G. Equipment and Materials used:
1. Hand and power tools
2. Body filler, fiberglass, ABS plastic and bondo
3. Sandpaper
4. Sealers
5. Welders
6. Metal/Frame straightening equipment
7. Cutting torch

H. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This is a physically demanding position. The Collision Center Body Technician will:
1. Stand at least six (6) to eight (8) hours per shift and may be required to walk up to two(2) miles in eight (8) hours
2. Access and repair/replace damaged parts
3. Transport parts weighing a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds or more with assistance
4. Vertically transport parts weighing a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds or more with assistance from one to forty-four (44) inches one time per shift, and horizontally transport same a distance of fifteen (15) feet without mechanical assistance
5. Horizontally transport equipment requiring forces up to twenty-five (25) pounds one time per hour
6. Use hand or power tools and vertically transport hand/power tools weighing ten (10) pounds one to fifty (50) inches ten (10) times per hour
7. Use tools requiring upper body push/pull forces of forty (40) pounds one time per hour and use pneumatic tools requiring grip forces of thirty (30) pounds ten (10) times per hour
8. Access vehicles and equipment, requiring ladder-type climbing up to ten (10) steps in one hour and engaging in repetitive posture movement to access vehicles eight (8) inches from the ground
9. Be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials
10. Work in non-climate controlled environment, requiring tolerance of outside temperatures including excessive heat, cold and precipitation.
