The Activities Assistant Supervisor is to assist the Activities Director develop, implement, manage, and continuously improve a comprehensive activities program designed to meet the social, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual needs of our resident's. Reporting to the Activities Director, the Activities Assistant Supervisor plans and coordinates events, outings, games, and exercises for residents. He/she arranges to have scout troops, school groups, and performance groups visit the residents. The Activities Assistant Supervisor oversees the activities to ensure residents participate safely and as much as they are able. In addition, the Activities Assistant Supervisor assists with preparing schedules and training new employees. Requirements The ideal candidate for this position should have continued education in Recreational Therapy or related field, one to two years experience in an Activities department for long-term care. Supervisory experience is preferred.
The following is a representative list of duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Assess, identify, and document (in each resident's care plan) each resident's activity interests, needs and concerns
-- Complete the activity component of the resident assessment within 48 hours of admission
-- Review and update the program as necessary, but at least quarterly
-- Gathers data and documents required ancillary assessments including, but not limited to resident assessment protocol summary documentation
-- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attends all resident care conferences
-- Plan and implement Reality Orientation programs when appropriate
-- Develop, organize & implement daily activities, which include large and small group activities, evening & weekend functions, trips, special events, and individualized programs, which may include room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms. Supervise barber and beauty parlor activities
-- Train staff. Implement a system to evaluate staff and conduct performance evaluations on staff. Handle and resolve any personnel problems.
-- Participate in in-service education and training, and outside professional development as needed to keep current on trends in the industry
-- Maintain documentation of interaction with residents and their families regarding the resident's assessment, participation/attendance record and progress in activity program. Ensure the documentation meets required standard/regulations and, is timely
